lisa-knits's Diaryland Diary

Entitled "Whine", or "Why do I have to be grown-up?"

I'm oh-so-glad it's Friday. I hate being an adult sometimes. I want a week off with no responsibilites. I'm tired of being a grown-up.

The good news is that I'm less of a zombie than I have been. The new meds seem to be doing the trick, without too many unpleasant side effects. I'm still tired, but I've got years of not enough sleep from which I need to recuperate.

The bad news is that my brain is still mush. I'm trying to concentrate on things work-related and it's all one big blur. Add to that the will we/won't we question of what to do with the house, and I really just don't want to cope right now. I want to crawl back into bed and pretend it all doesn't exist.

But, being adult, I don't get that option.

Last night, I ripped out the gift I was working on for a friend. I didn't like how it was turning out with the chenille. I'm thinking that chenille is much better for crochet than it is for knitting. Or that I really need to knit it tighter than I knit anything else. Either way, I'm not fond of it anymore. And I've got a huge bin of it in the stash.

I restarted the gift with some really gorgeous yarn from stash, though, and it's working out beautifully. It was something I thought I'd love when I bought it, but the color just isn't me. I think it will look lovely on the intended recipient, though. I even dragged out the reference books for the "right" cast-on to use. I ended up using the "Chain Cast-on" and will match it at the end with the "Chain Bind-Off". I'm using the Montse Stanley Knitter's Handbook descriptions of both.

This weekend is probably full of fun and exciting (please note sarcasm) house related things, so knitting will probably be on the low-side. But, I will definitely work on the exchange gift. It's nice to see something working out nicely for once.
